Waterdown West is a community of newer and established subdivisions. Homes of 30 or more years in mature districts are commonly original or revitalized bungalows. Two storey detached, semi’s, and traditional townhouses were built between 15 and 30 years ago with many undergoing updating. Three storey townhouse complexes favoured by first time home buyers and investors, are springing up along Dundas Street. The former Waterdown High School has been converted into stylish urban condos.
The Flamborough Family YMCA offers everything from aquatics, before and after school programs, fitness centre and sporting programs for all ages. The Waterdown Branch of the Hamilton Public Library, featuring a children’s area with kid friendly technology and activities, is also home to a Senior’s Recreation Centre, Heritage Archives, and Flamborough Community and Municipal Services.
Every possible retail shopping need and professional service is found in plazas or free standing locations along Hamilton and Dundas Streets, and in the Clappison’s Power or Flamborough South Shopping Centres.
This is a neighbourhood where school aged children enjoy quiet and safe residential streets just right for a game of hockey or bike riding. Families converge for summer BBQ’s and celebrations. In the winter, toboggan in Memorial Park or stroll through nearby Conservation areas keeping an eye out for Ontario’s winter wildlife. Family, friends, activities and conveniences. That’s Waterdown West.
