It comprises a rich history and heritage, modern facilities and conveniences, and a diverse choice in home ownership possibilities for everyone.
There is an abundance of cultural activities. The Oakville Centre for the Performing Arts is an intimate theatre with headliners often entertaining on stage. Community centres, sports fields, the Oakville Soccer Club are all within Oakville’s boundaries, and who hasn’t heard of the famous Glen Abbey Golf Course? Oakville has easy access to all major highways, and for transit users, there are two GO Train stations on the Lakeshore Line, VIA Rail, and the local Oakville Transit.
In Northwest Oakville, the "new" Oakville Trafalgar Memorial Hospital is state of the art. The area is worth noting for its medical facilities and labs, but also, for its zoning: Institutional and Light Employment. It is an important district for Oakville, not only for the medical care it provides for its residents and beyond, but for the current and future employment opportunities it will afford the town.
Shopping plaza’s dot every neighbourhood. Escape the elements in one of the covered malls. The downtown shopping experience is not to be missed. There is always something happening: the annual Midnight Madness event, Sidewalk Sale, Jazz Festival and Tree Lighting Ceremony are real crowd pleasers.

Oakville, divided by the QEW/403 into north and south districts, has evolved into very distinct neighbourhoods; each contributing to the diversity and lifestyle of Oakville. House styles, and demographics, are largely determined by the community, although older neighbourhoods are undergoing redevelopment and renovation.
