College Park is a neighbourhood that has everything in abundance: home ownership choices, parkland, shopping, good schools, and commuting ease. Centrally located in Oakville, the community is mature and well established with a distinct character.
Students, professional singles, young and established families, empty nesters, and retirees can all find just what they need and want in College Park.
The neighbourhood has some of the most affordable homes in Oakville. Beginning in the mid-1960’s, decades of development have resulted in a mix of popular styles. Bungalows, split levels and older two story homes occupy decent sized lots. Semi’s and townhouses are reasonably priced alternatives for young families to move into and renovate, while condominium high rise buildings are a favourite with students, singles, and seniors. The Enclaves, backing onto Sixteen Mile Creek, and newly built infill properties, round out the range of prices.
World renowned Sheridan College is the focal point of the community. It’s no secret that their Animation Course attracts Hollywood and Hollywood North recruiters. Well recognized for its Arts and Technology based programs, Sheridan can boast an impressive alumni: film and television producers and directors, screen writers, novelists, musicians, photographers, cartoonists, illustrators and animators.
For enthusiasts, the private year round Oakville Golf Club is popular for its 9-hole course, dining and social activities.
Oakville Place Mall provides indoor retail, a food court, pharmacy and professional services within its newly remodelled facility. College Park households can take advantage of the diverse shopping choices found along Trafalgar Road and the Queen Elizabeth district for everyday essentials, groceries, restaurants and take-out.
College Park residents will tell you their community is walkable, comfortable and convenient. If you want to settle into an area, with other than cookie-cutter style selections, this may be the place for you. It is a mostly unpretentious little neighbourhood filled with good neighbours and friends.
Sheridan College first opened its doors to students in 1967; Canada’s Centennial year. Starting out as a modest local college, Sheridan is now a leading and award-winning post-secondary institution.
