Secluded. Scenic. Country in the City. The Pleasantview/Hopkins neighbourhood is all of these things.
Residents primarily consist of a mix of couples and singles retiring in place, or mature families looking for a relaxed pace on the outskirts of an urban setting.
Plesantview/Hopkins is a large neighbourhood with small pockets of residential properties in the midst of massive green spaces. Developed primarily between the 1950’s to 1980’s, bungalows of every description account for the majority of the area’s homes. Large lots, have in recent years, attracted renovators and builders to the community resulting in extensive reconfiguration of the original building or total replacement with a contemporary designed home.
If nature is what you crave, conservation lands, sanctuaries and the Royal Botanical Gardens (RBG), are literally at your back door. The RBG has flourished for nearly eight decades and is recognized as a World Biosphere Reserve by UNESCO. It is the largest botanical garden in Canada and a national historic site. A showcase for plant habitat and species, every time you visit there’s something new. RBG also hosts private and public events. Jazz Brunches, Rock The Night Away and RBG By Night are a few of its culinary and entertainment experiences for everyone to enjoy.
The daily groceries, retail stores and professional service for Pleasantview/Hopkins residents are available from independent shops or located in the plazas of Dundas, Waterdown, Burlington and West Hamilton.
The neighbourhood has a high proportion of residents 55+ years of age who take full advantage of the many activities found in and around their location. Garden, participate in a round of golf, hike the trails or canoe beautiful waterways. Relax on the backyard deck, have a meal in a nearby restaurant or get into a lively conversation with friends at the local coffee shop. Definitely a little bit of country in the city.
Borer’s Falls is a picturesque 15 metre high curtain waterfall with spectacular views all around. If you happen to be a collector, photos of the waterfall are featured on the front of many Hamilton area postcards.
