Tyandaga is home to original owners, mature families, empty nesters, and retirees, but younger families are starting to populate the neighbourhood. Notably, neither school board currently has a school within Tyandaga’s boundaries; students are bused to surrounding communities.
Travelling by car typically requires 35 to 55 minutes but expect this time to increase during rush hour as the QEW/403 corridor is the main travel route between Burlington and Toronto. The 407 ETR is easily accessible from Tyandaga.
Travelling from Burlington GO to Union station by transit includes an express train during rush hour skipping all stations past Clarkson saving about 10 minutes overall. The all-stops train visits key destinations such as Exhibition with a commuting time of around 59 minutes.
Travelling by car to the downtown commercial district typically requires 14 to 24 minutes which can fluctuate a little during rush hour. The QEW/403 corridor is the main travel route between Burlington and Hamilton.
Travelling from Burlington GO to Hamilton GO station requires about 24 minutes. Keep in mind that not all trains travel to Hamilton during off-peak hours and you may need to connect with a GO bus.
Spacious homes on substantial lots is the established pattern. Reputable builders developed Tyandaga from the early 1970’s to the late 1990’s. Estate-like to modest two storey, split level, and bungalows of every description, make up the preponderance of detached homes. A smattering of semi-detached and townhouse properties round out the options.
Burlington’s newest and largest park, Cityview, is packed with fun and adventure. There are lighted sports fields, a creative playground, natural areas, wetland trails, and access to the Bruce Trail. As its name would suggest, it provides great city views. Kerncliff Park, formerly a quarry, is part of the Cootes to Escarpment Ecopark system. The wooden bridge through the marshlands, with a striking rock face background is admired by wildlife enthusiasts and photographers. For those who play, there is the Tyandaga Golf Course. Homes with a view of, or backing onto, the course are highly prized by true enthusiasts.
The Burlington Power Centre and the multitude of plazas along Brant Street are the main destinations for anything and everything on the shopping lists of Tyandaga residents. Costco, retail stores, services and restaurants are a short drive away.
On the hilly outskirts of the city, residents embrace their peaceful and quiet neighbourhood. Abundant in privacy and natural wonders to explore and enjoy, and yet, so close to all of the amenities expected by present-day, energetic families and individuals.
