Joshua Meadows is a developing neighbourhood ideal for commuters. Encompassing a sizeable geographic sector, much of the area is under construction. Progress is currently limited to the northeast corner of Trafalgar Road and Dundas Street.
Residents consist mostly of professional families with children, followed closely by younger couples and singles. Many properties, particularly townhomes, are purchased and then leased by investors.
Joshua Meadows is a neighbourhood with the latest in home trends .. but it’s still a work in progress. Two storey detached residences, generally with four bedrooms and two car garage, can be very spacious but built closely together. Townhouse styles range from the familiar two storey, single front facing garage, to the more contemporary three storey version equipped with either an attached or communal lane garage. Box-style towns tend to have a small usable space at entry level but no basement; the primary living area begins on the second floor, in which case, balconies may be the only option for personal outdoor relaxation.
A short drive away, The Joshua Creek Heritage Art Gallery showcases various artworks in its galleries, and for the creative minded, there is a range of hands-on workshops. For the best field to table fare, a community garden allows those with a green thumb to grow their own vegetables.
Joshua Meadows has no shortage of retail, grocery or eating establishments along either Trafalgar Road or Dundas Street. Major shopping centres and plazas of Oakville and Mississauga are reachable in mere minutes.
The neighbourhood is ideal for commuters with quick access to major transportation routes. For those demanding the latest trends in building and design features, it’s here in Joshua Meadows, but the construction will be ongoing for some time, and of course, it will take decades for parks, trees and streetscapes to mature and develop.
The Joshua Creek Heritage Art Centre is one of those gems you wish you had heard about sooner. Early exhibitions were held in the 1927 farmhouse. The conversion of the 1827 heritage barn into a gallery began in 2007, with the first exhibition in 2008. The Centre is a place for emerging artists to showcase their work; many of whom have gone on to successful careers. Visit, tour, and perhaps even take part in a hands-on workshop.
