Central Oakville is a “happening” place! The location is ideal for its walkability to the waterfront, and to the boutiques and restaurants of both Old Oakville and Kerr Village.
Central residents range from families and empty nesters in modest homes, to single professionals and retirees enjoying condominium lifestyles, to corporate executives favouring the comforts of large townhouses or infill properties. They all have one thing in common: the enjoyment of a very interesting neighbourhood.
Established in the early 1800’s, it is now one of the most architecturally diverse neighbourhoods in Oakville. Appealing to families at every stage of life, smaller, older bungalows coexist with modest townhouses, luxury condominiums, stately townhomes and modern detached infill properties. Central Oakville is divided into distinct residential pockets, each with its own character. To the north, discover the West River’s comfortable homes on larger lots, abundant greenery and mature trees. Kerr Village has smaller bungalows, low rise condominiums and mid-sized new builds on modest lots. West Harbour, at the lakefront, showcases newer luxury properties with accompanying luxury price points.
The redeveloped and expanded Trafalgar Park Community Centre has an NHL sized arena, fitness centre, gymnasium, indoor walking track, and seniors centre. Outdoors there is a playground, and tennis courts which convert into an artificial skating rink in the winter.
The neighbourhood is reminiscent of a European Village lifestyle with quaint cafes, interesting restaurants and boutique shopping found along the length of Kerr Street. Wide ranging shopping essentials, commercial businesses, and services populate Speers Road.
Excellent schools, sporting and fitness facilities, downtown retail and entertainment, waterfront parks; they are all within walking distance, so go ahead, leave the car at home. Living in Central Oakville is like being a member of an exclusive club. There is a true sense of community, intent on enjoying all the amenities on offer, at a more attainable price than its adjacent neighbourhoods.
The Lion’s Foundation of Canada Guide Dogs are often seen out and about in the neighbourhood as their training centre is located on Wilson Street.
